Gentamicin base ....................................... 100 mg
Description:
Gentamicin belongs to the group of aminoglycosides and has bactericidal action against mainly Gram-negative bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella spp. and Salmonella spp. The bactericidal action is based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
Indications:
Gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by gentamicin-sensitive bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella spp., Pasteurella spp. and Salmonella spp. in cattle, calves, sheep, goats and swine.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to gentamicin. Administration to animals with a seriously impaired renal and/or hepatic function. Concurrent administration of nephrotoxic substances.
Side effects:
Hypersensitivity reactions. High and prolonged application may result in neurotoxicity, ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity
Dosage:
For intramuscular administration. General: Twice daily 1 ml per 20 - 40 kg body weight for 3 days.
Withdrawal times:
- For kidneys : 45 days. - For meat : 7 days. - For milk : 3 days.
