description:
Colistin is an antibiotic of the polymyxin group, which is active against gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella. Polymyxins are characterized by a strong interaction with phospholipids, when they enter the cell, they destroy the structure of the cell membrane of gram-negative bacteria. bind to lipopolysaccharide endotoxin, thereby neutralizing the functional activity of endotoxin. Colistin is incompletely absorbed after oral administration and is almost completely excreted with feces.
Indications:
The drug is intended for gastrointestinal infections caused by colistin-sensitive bacteria (E.coli, Haemophilus, Salmonella) in poultry, calves, pigs, sheep and goats.
Method of administration and dosage:
It is taken orally with drinking water.
Calf, sheep and goat: ..................... 1 ml. 40 kg. per live weight, 2 times a day for 5-7 days.
Poultry and pork: ............................... 1 l. 2000-4000 l. 5-7 days in drinking water.
Contraindications:
It is not recommended to use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to colistin, kidney failure or high microbial digestion.
