Spot-on ectoparasite and endoparasite control for cats
Provides efficacy against fleas for 5 weeks and against ticks for 4–5 weeks
Composition
Active substances:
• selamectin;
• sarolaner.

For cats only
Cats ≤2.5 kg - 15/2.5 mg
Cats >2.5-5 kg - 30/5 mg
Cats >5-10 kg -60/10 mg
Therapeutic indications
Stronghold Plus is indicated for the treatment and control of mixed parasitic infections in cats when simultaneous action against ticks and one or more other target parasites is required.
The drug is used:
• For the treatment and prevention of flea infestations;
• For the treatment of tick infestations;
• For the treatment of ear mites;
• For the treatment of gastrointestinal nematode infestations;
• For the prevention of heartworm disease.
Mechanism of action
Selamectin is a macrocyclic lactone. It acts on the neuromuscular system of parasites and provides control of susceptible parasites.
Sarolaner is an insecticidal and acaricidal substance of the isoxazoline group.
The combination of the two active substances provides control of both ectoparasites and certain endoparasites in cats.
Contraindications
Do not use in cases of known hypersensitivity to the active substances or excipients.
Special warnings and precautions for use
When using the product, the age, body weight, state of health and parasite risk of the animal should be taken into account.
The possibility of very rare neurological reactions associated with isoxazolines, including tremors, ataxia or seizures, should be considered.
Adverse reactions
Transient local reactions at the application site may occur.
In some animals, transient itching, skin irritation or fur changes at the application site may occur.
Rarely, neurological signs may occur.
Use during pregnancy and lactation should be evaluated by a veterinarian.
No clinically significant interactions with other veterinary medicinal products have been identified.
Pharmacological properties
Selamectin provides control of relevant endo- and ectoparasites, while sarolaner is primarily active against fleas and ticks.
