Instructions for use
Vetaclox
(suspension for intracisternal use)
Description
White suspension in a 4.5 g syringe-tube.
Composition
1 syringe-tube (4.5 g) contains the following active ingredient:
Cloxacillin (as benzathine salt) - 500 mg.
Excipients: soft white paraffin, liquid paraffin.
Pharmacological properties
ATC veterinary classification code QJ51CF02 - Cloxacillin.
Cloxacillin is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the penicillin group, active against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, Corynebacterium pyogenes, Neisseria spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The drug acts bactericidally, preventing the synthesis of the outer membrane of the cell membrane of the microorganism by inhibiting the functional activity of bacterial transpeptidase enzymes involved in the binding of peptidoglycan. Blocking the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall leads to a violation of the osmotic balance, which ultimately leads to the death of the bacteria. Most of the cloxacillin (60-90%) is excreted by the kidneys in a short period of time (within 6 hours). Approximately 20% of renal filtration occurs at the glomerular level, and 80% at the level of the convoluted tubules. At the same time, semi-synthetic penicillins can remain in the bile ducts for up to 96 hours.
Animal species
Cows in the period of cessation of lactation.
Indications
Treatment of subclinical (latent) mastitis caused by microorganisms sensitive to cloxacillin in cows in the period of cessation of lactation.
Dosage
Intracisternal. After the last milking, the contents of one syringe-tube should be injected into each quarter of the udder. After applying the drug, each quarter of the udder is massaged to evenly distribute it throughout the udder.
Before the procedure, the udder must be washed and disinfected.
Contraindications
Do not use in lactating cows and in cows that have stopped lactation for less than 4 weeks. Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to cloxacillin.
Warnings
Side effects
Allergic reactions may develop in animals sensitive to 6-aminopenicillin acid derivatives.
Special precautions for use
Before using the drug, the sensitivity of pathogens to cloxacillin should be determined by testing.
Dispose of unused and expired drugs in accordance with local regulatory acts.
Use during pregnancy, lactation, and egg laying.
Do not use in lactating cows or in cows that have stopped lactation for less than 4 weeks.
Interactions with other drugs and other forms of interaction.
When cloxacillin interacts with anticoagulants, their effect is enhanced. When interacting with hormonal drugs, cloxacillin causes a decrease in their effect. When administered simultaneously, it reduces the effect of streptomycin, tetracycline, oxytetracycline, gentamicin, and kanamycin. It also enhances the effect of enrofloxacin.
Withdrawal period
Meat: 28 days after administration of the drug;
Milk: 96 hours after parturition.
In the event that parturition occurred less than 28 days after administration of the drug, the use of milk is allowed 28 days and 96 hours after treatment.
