Systemic ectoparasiticide for dogs
Provides efficacy against fleas and ticks for 5 weeks.
Composition. Active ingredient: sarolaner.
The drug is presented in the form of chewable tablets, in different dosages, depending on the dog's body weight:
Dog 1.3-2.5 kg - 5 mg
Dog 2.5-5 kg - 10 mg
Dog 5-10 kg - 20 mg
Dog 10-20 kg - 40 mg
Dog 20-40 kg - 80 mg
The drug is used only in dogs.
Therapeutic indications
The drug acts on adult fleas and in the case of a new infestation, ensures their rapid destruction. The destruction of fleas occurs before the start of egg laying, which helps control the flea population on the animal.
Sarolaner is effective against fleas, including Ctenocephalides felis and Ctenocephalides canis, and various tick species.
The drug is used to treat sarcoptic mange (Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis), demodicosis (Demodex canis), and otodectes cynotis in dogs.
Mechanism of action
Sarolaner is an insecticidal and acaricidal agent of the isoxazoline group. Its action is associated with disruption of the function of the nervous system of the parasite and leads to its death.
Sarolaner is characterized by high selectivity for parasites.
Contraindications - do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients of the drug.
Special warnings and precautions
Neurological disorders are very rarely possible when using drugs of the isoxazoline group, therefore special caution is required in animals with a history of seizures or neurological disorders.
Adverse reactions
The following adverse reactions are generally mild and transient:
Gastrointestinal disturbances such as vomiting or diarrhea, as well as lethargy, decreased appetite or other transient clinical signs.
In very rare cases, neurological signs including tremors, ataxia or seizures may occur.
If an adverse reaction occurs, veterinary advice is recommended.
During pregnancy and lactation, the use of the product should be at the discretion of the veterinarian.
No clinically significant interactions with other veterinary medicinal products have been identified.
