Pharmacological action:

Albendazole is a derivative of benzimidazole carbamate, characterized by a wide spectrum of activity. It is active against adult and young nematodes, cestodes, as well as trematodes, has an ovicidal effect, which prevents contamination of pastures and stalls. Albendazole disrupts the activity of the microtubular system of intestinal canal cells of helminths; Suppresses the polymerization of microchannels, the process of glucose transport is disrupted by disintegration of microchannels, which causes a functional disruption of the microtubular apparatus in the body of helminths, as a result of which they die and are expelled from the body. In case of intestinal helminthiasis, albendazole is effective in a single dose, its bioavailability increases after eating.

Pharmacokinetics:

When taken orally, albendazole is better absorbed than other benzimidazoles and is distributed in all organs. The main metabolites albendazole sulfoxide and albendazole sulfone reach their maximum concentration in the blood plasma within 20 hours after entering the body. The highest concentration of metabolites (sulfoxide or sulfone) is observed in the liver, kidneys, muscles and remains in these organs for 13 days. About 47% of the dose is excreted with urine, the rest with the gallbladder in the form of metabolites.

It is used for the deworming of farm animals and domestic birds for the following diseases: gastrointestinal helminthosis (haemoncosis, bunostomosis, esophagostomosis, ostertagiosis, cabertiosis, cooperiosis, strongyloidosis, trichostrongylosis, hyostrogillosis, paraascaridosis, trichocephalosis, Toxocarosis, toxocaridosis, uncinariasis, ascaridosis, Heterakidosis), lung helminthoses (dictyocaulosis, protostrongyllosis, mülleriosis, neostrongyllosis, cystocaullosis, metastrongyllosis), cestodeses (moniesiosis, avitelinosis, thysaniesiosis), trematodeses (fasciolosis, dicroceliosis, paramphistomatosis).

Method of administration and dosage:

The drug is given orally without prior fasting. Cattle, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, pigs are given the drug once with food. Domestic birds (chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese) are mixed in food twice.

Cattle - in case of nematodes and cestodoses - 1 bolus per 80 kg of live weight. In case of trematodes, the dose is doubled: 1 bolus per 40 kg of live weight.

Sheep, goats - for nematodes, cestodes - 1 bolus per 120 kg of live weight. For trematodes, the dose is doubled, 1 bolus per 60 kg of live weight.

Horse, donkey - paraascariodosis, oxyurosis, strongylatosis and strongyloidosis 1 bolus per 80 kg of live weight

Pigs - ascaridosis, metastrongylosis, esophagostomosis, trichocephalosis, strongyloidosis 1 bolus per 60 kg of live weight by mixing in feed.

Poultry (chicken, turkey, duck, goose) - in ascaridosis, heterokidosis, the drug is prescribed in groups, mixed with food, for two consecutive days. In the morning, 1 bolus per 40 kg live weight.

Before mass treatment, preliminary testing of the drug is carried out in small groups of animals of each species. In case of complications, the use of the drug should be stopped for the given species.

Side effects:

Side effects and complications do not appear when using "Albendazole 600" according to the instructions.

Symptoms of overdose have not been detected in animals.

Contraindications:

The drug is not used in egg-laying birds, weak, weakened animals. In acute fasciolosis, in cattle in the first third of gestation (within 45 days), in pigs and sheep in the first half of gestation (within 90 days).

When individual sensitivity of the animal to the active components of the drug increases and/or allergic reactions occur, its use is stopped.

Interaction with other drugs:

With simultaneous use with dexamethasone, praziquantel, it is possible to increase the concentration of albendazole sulfoxide in the blood plasma.
