Hipragumboro GM97

Hipra, Spain

Infectious bursitis vaccine for oral administration

Quantitative and qualitative composition of each dose:

Live infectious bursitis disease virus, strain GM97: 102- 103 EID50 (embryonic infectious dose 50%).

Indications:

Used for active immunization of broiler chicks with low maternally transmitted antibodies (500 or less determined by the ELISA method) to reduce mortality, clinical signs of Gumboro disease and bursal lesions. Vaccination of birds can be carried out from one day of age. Immunity is established on the 14th day after vaccination and lasts for 43 days after vaccination.

Contraindications:

Do not vaccinate sick birds. Do not vaccinate a population with clinical symptoms.

Side effects:

A single dose causes a decrease in the number of lymphocytes in the bursa of Fabricius (in 50-75% of follicles). An increase in the number of lymphocytes is observed from 14 days after vaccination, and a certain decrease remains after 28 days after vaccination (5-25% of follicles). This decrease in lymphocytes does not cause an immunosuppressive effect.

Target species:

Chickens (broilers)

Method of administration and dosage:

Orally. Add 10 ml of non-chlorinated drinking water to the vial with a syringe. Shake gently until the powder is completely dissolved. Do not use during egg laying or selection periods.

Dosage:

Serologically negative birds are vaccinated from one day of age. The optimal age for vaccination is calculated based on the level of maternal antibodies in the chick at one day of age (Kouvenhoven formula) based on testing at least 18 birds (preferably 24). All chicks are vaccinated once.

Administration method:

The amount of water required for dilution depends on the age of the bird and the specifics of care. In general, 2 liters of water are required for every 1,000 broilers per day. Therefore, 1,000 14-day-old broilers will require 28 liters of water to receive 1,000 doses of vaccine. If the birds have higher or lower water requirements, adjust the volume accordingly. The route of administration of this vaccine is very important. In order to improve vaccine uptake, the following circumstances should be considered: Water supply to the birds should be stopped 1-2 hours before vaccination, to ensure vaccine uptake within 1-2 hours of opening. Drinkers: Empty and clean drinkers during the water retention period. Open the vaccine as recommended and at the end of the water retention period, fill all drinkers with water containing the vaccine.

Drip irrigation (nipple): A significant amount of residual water may remain in the line after the water retention period. It is recommended to empty the lines and fill them with water containing the vaccine, then allow the birds to drink the water. Dilute the vaccine and pour it into the tank. Calculate the amount of liquid remaining in the tank below the valve and do not forget to calculate this volume of water when calculating the number of doses.

Always make sure that the bird has enough food at the time of vaccination, otherwise the correct amount of liquid will not be consumed.

Withdrawal period:

0 days

Special storage conditions:

Keep out of reach of children. Store and transport refrigerated (+2 ˚C- +8 ˚C). Protect from direct sunlight.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the packaging.

Use the vaccine within one hour of opening.

Special warnings:

Use only in populations with low maternally derived antibody titers (500 or less as determined by ELISA). The optimal timing of vaccination of broilers is determined according to the Kouwenhoven formula. Due to possible residual bursal changes of the vaccine, it is advisable to use it only in populations that are epidemiologically dangerous and in cases where clinical signs are not observed.

Do not use chlorinated or disinfectant-treated water to dilute the vaccine.

In order to prevent the spread of the disease in the population, appropriate veterinary and agricultural measures must be taken.

Special warnings for persons directly involved in vaccination.

Wash and disinfect hands after vaccination.

In case of accidental self-injection, eye or skin contact, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet.

Do not use in laying birds and breeding flocks.

Use and interaction with other medicinal products

There are no data on the use of other agents, therefore this should be determined individually.

Overdose:

At a 10-fold excess of the dose, a decrease in the number of lymphocytes in the bursa of Fabricius is observed (approximately 75% of the follicles are damaged). Recovery begins from the 14th day after vaccination and by the 28th day this number is already reduced to 25%. This process does not have an immunosuppressive effect.

Incompatibilities

Do not mix with other vaccines or immunological products.

Special conditions for the disposal of waste or unused vaccine:

Any medicinal product or waste material should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
