Complex antibiotic for parenteral use
Quantitative and qualitative composition of 1 ml suspension:
Procaine Penicillin G………………………………………….200,000 IU
Dihydrostreptomycin sulfate................................................... ..200 mg.
Target species:
Cattle, calves, sheep, goats and pigs.
Indications:
Arthritis, mastitis, infections of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory and urinary tracts caused by microorganisms sensitive to penicillin and dihydrostreptomycin, such as Campylobacter, Clostridia, Corynebacterium, Erysipelothrix, Haemophilus; Klebsiella, Listeria, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus strains in veal, cattle, goat, sheep and pig.
Dosage:
For intramuscular use.
In cattle: 1.0 ml for every 20 kilograms of body weight, for 3 days.
Calves, goats, sheep and pigs: 1.0 ml for every 10 kilograms of body weight, for 3 days.
Note:
Shake well before use Do not use more than 20ml in cattle, 10ml in pigs and 5ml in calves, goats and sheep per injection site.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to penicillins, procaine and/or aminoglycosides.
Serious impairment of kidney function.
Combination with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.
Adverse effects:
occasional use in lactating and breeding pigs may cause transient pyrexia, vomiting, tremors, restlessness and incoordination.
Administration of benzylpenicillin-procaine at therapeutic doses can cause abortion in pigs, as well as ototoxicity, neurotoxicity or nephrotoxicity.
Excretion period:
- Kidney: 45 days
- Meat: 21 days
- Milk: 3 days
Storage conditions:
Penstrep-400 has a shelf life of 2 years when stored in a cool (8 - 15 °C) place protected from light. After opening, store in a refrigerator (2 - 8 °C) and finish within 2 weeks.
Keep out of reach of children!
Warnings:
Procaine Penicillin G preparations can sometimes cause abortion in macaque pigs.
Procaine penicillin G should not be used with bacteriostatic, chemotherapeutic agents due to possible antagonism of the bactericidal action of procaine penicillin G by these drugs.
Release form:
100 ml type II transparent vials with bromobutyl rubber stopper and aluminum cap, placed in a cardboard box.
